Ingredients

  • 1 lb frozen vegan gyoza dumplings
  • 1 lb heirloom tomatoes (mixed colors)
  • 1 English cucumber
  • 5 scallions (thinly sliced)
  • 1 red chili pepper (optional)
  • 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves
  • 3 Tbsp tamari
  • 2 Tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 23 tsp maple syrup
  • toasted sesame seeds or crispy fried onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Steam the dumplings according to package instructions. Toss with a teaspoon of sesame oil to prevent sticking.
  2. In a bowl, mix tamari, balsamic vinegar, and maple syrup for the dressing. Pour over warm dumplings and gently toss.
  3. Chop heirloom tomatoes and cucumber; add them along with scallions and chili pepper to the bowl.
  4. Toss everything together, then garnish with basil and sesame seeds. Serve at room temperature.
